Thanks to advocates across the country and continued strong bipartisan support in Congress, the House of Representatives soundly defeated the amendment offered by Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI-6) to decrease funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), by a vote of 114 to 297! Please find a voting record here, to learn how your Representative voted. During the floor debate on the amendment, Chairman Ken Calvert (R-CA) and Congressional Arts Caucus co-Chairs Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ) and Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-ME) all spoke out in support of the arts and the Endowments.
Since the defeat of this amendment, the House has passed the Interior Bill which includes a $2 million increase for the NEA, which would bring its budget for FY19 to $155 million.
