House and Senate Debate the NEA Budget this Week!
Budget discussions for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for FY17 are moving forward this week! Appropriators in both the House and the Senate are meeting to debate the FY17 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Bill which contains funding for the NEA. The House Interior Appropriations Subcommittee recently approved $149,849,000 million for the NEA for FY17. This is an increase of about $2 million over FY16 and is the same amount that President Obama requested for the agency. PAA and arts advocates are asking Congress for $155 million for the NEA next year.
